The Kids Digital Maker Party is a drop-in event, and is perfect for children between 5 and 15. Kids can try their hand at app development, robotics, scratch, BBC micro:bits, Makey Makeys and Raspberry Pi. The event is free, but children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Apple Summer Camp: Coding Games and Programming Robots
Days and times vary, Apple Stores inc. Newcastle & Gateshead (Free)
This camp lasts for three days, and is ideal for kids between 8 and 12 who want to learn how to code and program. They'll use Tynker and Sphero to solve puzzles, make stories and hone their skills. The camps running at the Newcastle and Gateshead stores are fully booked, but you can check other stores or add your name to a waiting list.

Makers and Creators Summer Holiday Club

Tech for Life and the Sage Foundation are running this summer camp for kids aged 8-16. They'll be using coding and electronics to create their own project, which will be presented in a showcase to parents at the end of the week. Some knowledge of drag-and-drop programmes and basic python is recommended.

Go Reboot Schools Summer Camp
9:30-15:00 August 29th-31st, Software Centre, Sunderland (£49)
This summer camp is designed for teens in Year 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in working in the tech sector. They'll meet with businesses and training providers, discover different job roles and career routes, and learn the basic technical skills to succeed in the industry. Great if your kids want to get started in software.
